Margalla Hills fire almost extinguished: NDMA

ISLAMABAD, Mar 30 (APP):Latest reports say the fire erupted on the Margalla Hills at Kalanjar village last day has almost been extinguished and populated areas are safe, says National Disaster Management Authority quoting Capital Development Authority (CDA).
According to NDMA press release, CDA was reviewing the overall situation and a control room was established in this regard. According to a spokesman of Pakistan Navy, 120 troops and 12 fire tenders of Navy participated in the fire fighting operation. Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force had provided helicopters on request of National Disaster Management Authority for fighting the fire at the Margalla Hills in suburbs of Islamabad. Pak Army troops were also dispatched to protect the local population of Kalajar village from bush fire.
However, still 3-4 dispersed places are under mild Fire as wind velocity/ speed is hampering the Fire Fighting. It is assessed that helicopter effort will be required Saturday as well to completely extinguish the Fire.
