ISLAMABAD, Nov 15 (APP): The Lok Mela ninth day unfolded with unprecedented energy on Saturday as more than 200,000 visitors thronging Lok Virsa to attend Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Musical Night, making it one of the festival’s busiest and most vibrant days yet.
The grounds were alive with colour, music, craftsmanship, and a festive spirit that reflected Pakistan’s cultural richness at its finest.
The massive weekend turnout turned the Lok Virsa lawns into a lively cultural arena, where families, students, diplomats, and art enthusiasts explored provincial pavilions, met artisans from across the country, and enjoyed an array of traditional foods.
The overwhelming public response once again reaffirmed Lok Mela’s reputation as Pakistan’s most celebrated cultural festival.
As the sun set, the excitement culminated in a spectacular Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Musical Night, which emerged as the highlight of the day.
The evening opened with powerful performances by Zeek Afridi and Bakhtiar Khattak, whose soulful voices instantly drew the crowd in. Rising sensation Sana Tajik captivated the audience with her expressive renditions, while Raj Wali infused the night with traditional Pashto melodies loved by folk music enthusiasts.
The ever-energetic Fatima Nazish hosted the show, keeping the audience engaged throughout the evening. A standout moment came when the Shahid Ali Khan Qawwali Group took the stage. The 10-member troupe delivered an electrifying qawwali performance that had the entire arena clapping, chanting, and swaying to the spiritual rhythm—creating one of the most memorable scenes of this year’s festival.
Adding further depth to the musical night, Arzu Naz moved the crowd with her heartfelt compositions.
A dedicated ensemble of live musicians on saxophone, banjo, rubab, harmonium, and tabla enhanced every performance, creating a rich soundscape that celebrated KP’s folk heritage.
Executive Director Lok Virsa, Dr. Muhammad Waqas Saleem, thanked the public for their overwhelming participation, noting that the festival’s success reflects Pakistan’s enduring love for its cultural roots.
He reaffirmed Lok Virsa’s commitment to supporting artisans, promoting indigenous traditions, and providing a national platform for regional artists.
With its soaring footfall and unforgettable performances, Day 09 pushed Lok Mela 2025 into a new wave of excitement.
