ISLAMABAD, Nov 26 (APP):Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja on Wednesday met with the Qatar Development Bank (QDB) Chief Executive Abdulrahman Al Sowaidi in Doha, where both sides reviewed possible financing, incubation and investment options for Pakistani tech start-ups.
The discussion focused on expanding opportunities for Pakistani tech SMEs and strengthening long-term cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting aimed to build a stronger support system for emerging companies from Pakistan seeking regional growth.
On the occasion, Shaza Fatima said QDB could become a strategic partner for Pakistan’s IT sector and its growing pool of tech-based small and medium enterprises. She highlighted Pakistan’s young talent and the need for stronger international linkages to help start-ups scale.
The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, cybersecurity and digital transformation.
They discussed how public and private institutions from both countries could collaborate to design joint programmes that help businesses adapt to new digital tools.
Innovation and digital skill development also remained important areas in the conversation. Both sides examined options to expand existing training initiatives and design new programmes that can support youth from Pakistan and Qatar in entering the tech sector.
The minister proposed institutional cooperation for talent development, technical training and start-up exchange programmes. She noted that structured exchanges between incubators and accelerators could help founders gain exposure to new markets and business models.
The meeting further explored cooperation in industrial digitalisation, IoT testing environments and cross-incubation projects. These areas were identified as priority fields where Pakistan and Qatar can work together to support emerging technologies and industrial growth.
Both sides expressed interest in continued engagement to turn these plans into practical initiatives.
