IT, Commerce Ministries join hands to boost e-commerce ecosystem

ISLAMABAD, Jun 12 (APP):Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan on Thursday held a high-level meeting to explore collaborative measures for the promotion and development of Pakistan’s e-commerce ecosystem.
In a significant step forward, both ministries agreed to form a joint working group aimed at streamlining efforts and crafting effective strategies to support the sector’s growth.
The ministers highlighted the need for coordinated and sustainable initiatives to strengthen the country’s digital economy, stressing that broad-based stakeholder consultation would be central to shaping impactful e-commerce reforms.
They reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding digital trade infrastructure through the adoption of modern technologies, recognising the sector as a key driver of economic transformation and a national priority.
The joint efforts are expected to improve regulatory frameworks, enhance digital connectivity, and unlock new opportunities for entrepreneurs, SMEs, and consumers across Pakistan’s digital marketplace.
