ISLAMABAD, Dec 13 (APP):Welcoming the support of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on the creation of new provinces, the spokesperson of Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), has termed it a positive development and a reflection of national thinking.
Commenting on the statement of Federal Minister and MQM leader Amin-ul-Haque, the IPP spokesperson said that MQM’s support is a good omen and this good gesture on such an important national issue as new provinces is a positive and commendable step, said a press release issued here Saturday.
The IPP spokesperson thanked MQM for its cooperation in the matter of new provinces, stating that by supporting the proposals of the President of the IPP, Abdul Aleem Khan, MQM has taken a constructive step towards national interest and public welfare.
He added that other political parties should also demonstrate openness and support the IPP on the issue of new provinces.
According to the spokesperson, MQM has spoken in the interest of the country and the fact is that fair distribution of powers, effective resolution of issues at the local level and the establishment of smaller administrative units have become the most pressing needs of the time.
IPP spokesperson further stated that a serious political and social debate on the establishment of new provinces is already underway across the country and that this is not a new demand.
He said that strict implementation of the report of January 28, 2013, regarding new provinces could pave the way for improved governance. The establishment of new administrative units not only in Punjab but also in other provinces would help promote good governance.
President of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party, Abdul Aleem Khan has presented a unique and workable vision regarding new provinces which is receiving appreciation from various quarters, spokesmen added.
He clarified that new provinces can be established without changing the names of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He termed MQM’s proposal of 12 new provinces and its inclusion in the national mainstream as a welcome development.
The spokesperson concluded by stating that the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party invites all political parties to adopt a democratic approach and engage in meaningful dialogue on the establishment of new provinces so that the public can be provided with better governance and an effective administrative system.
