ISLAMABAD, Apr 02 (APP):The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday issued written order in a case seeking directives for early announcement of Eid-ul-Fitr after sighting moon.
The court has directed the authorities that the announcement of the Eid-ul-Fitr moon should be made as early as possible in accordance with the law and based on verified testimonies.
The court stated that the matter of moon sighting falls under the jurisdiction of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Pakistan, which is responsible for announcing the sighting based on evidence.
The court also emphasized that after the moon announcement, authorities must ensure law and order, public safety, and proper management in markets.
It noted that regulating market activity and protecting citizens falls under the responsibility of administrative authorities and law enforcement agencies.
The directive was issued in a written order by Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar, without going into the merits of the case.
