ICT Police deploy 7,000 across capital, 3,000 for Eid congregations security

ISLAMABAD, Mar 20 (APP): Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have finalized comprehensive security and traffic arrangements for Chand Raat and Eid-ul-Fitr, deploying over 7,000 police officers, personnel and volunteers across the federal capital.
An official told APP on Friday that more than 3,000 police officers and personnel would perform security duties at mosques, imambargahs and open places during Eid congregations.
He said that over 2,000 police personnel have been deployed at public places, parks and graveyards to ensure security, while more than 500 traffic officers would regulate traffic flow on major roads during Eid days.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said that a coordinated security and traffic plan had been devised to facilitate citizens and maintain law and order in the capital.
He said that special traffic arrangements have also been made for tourists visiting Murree, while three major parks in the city have been declared family parks, where only families would be allowed entry.
The IGP Rizvi added that bicycle patrols would also be conducted inside parks, while a comprehensive crackdown would be launched against street crime, aerial firing and hooliganism.
He said that police pickets have been established outside houses of citizens travelling to their hometowns, while four-wheel and two-wheel patrolling would be ensured in residential sectors.
Rizvi said that citizens would witness all types of patrolling across the city, adding that Islamabad Police was committed to maintaining a peaceful environment during Eid.
He urged citizens to cooperate with police, adding that the force was performing its duties away from their families to ensure public safety.
The ICT Police reiterated that all available resources would be utilized to ensure a safe, secure and peaceful Eid for citizens in the federal capital.
