ISLAMABAD, Jan 29 (APP):The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has started full implementation of its open-door policy to ensure direct access for citizens and timely handling of public complaints.
Under the policy, senior officers are meeting residents on a daily basis and issuing instructions on the spot to resolve issues.
According to the spokesman of ICT administration, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad is holding regular meetings with citizens to listen to their concerns without prior appointments. During these meetings, complaints related to civic services, land matters, municipal issues, and administrative delays are being received directly from the public.
The DC Islamabad has directed all officers of the district administration to strictly follow the open door policy. Officers have been instructed to meet citizens every working day and ensure that complaints are addressed without unnecessary delay. The focus of the policy is to reduce communication gaps between the administration and the public and to provide relief through direct interaction.
Officials present during the meetings are being issued immediate instructions to take action on complaints at the relevant level. In cases where on-the-spot decisions are possible, directions are being given during the meetings. For matters requiring further review, officers have been asked to follow up and report progress within a defined time.
The DC Islamabad has also warned that action will be taken against officers who fail to meet with citizens or ignore public complaints. Compliance with the open-door policy has been made mandatory for all departments working under the district administration.
To ensure accountability, all officers have been instructed to submit daily reports detailing the number of citizens met, complaints received, and steps taken for resolution. These reports will be reviewed to monitor performance and identify delays.
The district administration stated that the open-door policy will continue as a regular practice to improve public service delivery and ensure that citizens’ issues are heard and resolved through direct administrative engagement.
