ISLAMABAD, Feb 05 (APP):Senior Hurriyat leader Farooq Rehmani on Thursday addressed a gathering marking Kashmir Solidarity Day at D-Chowk, urging continued political and moral support for the people of Kashmir while reiterating calls for their right to self-determination.
Speaking at the ceremony attended by students, youth and civil society representatives, Rehmani thanked the government and people of Pakistan for observing Feb 5 as a day of solidarity with Kashmiris.
He said such events conveyed a message of unity and support to Kashmiris amid challenging circumstances in the region.
Rehmani criticised Indian policies in Jammu and Kashmir, demographic changes, restrictions on religious activities and political repression following the revocation of Articles 370 and 35A.
He said that Kashmiri political leaders and youth faced detentions and legal pressures under stringent laws.
He also called for implementation of United Nations resolutions on Kashmir and urged greater unity between Pakistanis and Kashmiris, stressing the need for sustained diplomatic and political engagement on the issue.
The event concluded with participants reaffirming support for Kashmiris and calling for a peaceful resolution of the longstanding dispute in accordance with international commitments.
