Govt utilizing optimum resources to manage crisis: Finance Minister

ISLAMABAD, Apr 06 (APP): Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Monday said the government was utilizing all available resources to effectively manage the current crisis.

Speaking in the National Assembly, he said the government responded promptly to the emerging regionalscenario with formation of a high-level committee by the Prime Minister over the weekend to proactively manage any critical situation in the country.

He said that the prime minister did demonstrate foresight by constituting the committee, which compriseskey cabinet members, including the ministers for petroleum, commerce, maritime affairs, and national foodsecurity, as well as the Governor of the State Bank.

The finance minister said that the petroleum minister played a pivotal role in coordinating efforts in this regard.

He further said that daily meetings had been held since the first week of March to assess stock availability, pricing patterns, logistical challenges, and evolving global market conditions.

“We initiated daily stock-taking meetings, reviewing available supplies, stock levels, pricing patterns, and logistics-related issues,” Aurangzeb said.

He added that diplomatic efforts had also been intensified, with the government engaging at the state-to-state level to ensure smooth supply management and maintain stability.

Aurangzeb said the government had now entered the fifth week of continuous monitoring, with daily reviews being conducted at the highest level.

He said that the prime minister and the deputy prime minister were personally overseeing the process through dedicated committees.
