ISLAMABAD, Dec 09 (APP):The government has taken a landmark step to accelerate industrial and agricultural activity as NEPRA has approved concessional electricity tariffs on additional power consumption for industries, the Power Division said on Tuesday.
According to the division, NEPRA’s official determination—issued on the Federal Government’s reference—has been received, and under the approved rates, industries will be charged Rs. 22.98 per unit for additional electricity consumption, said a press release.
The Power Division has welcomed NEPRA’s decision and has initiated the necessary processes for issuance of the formal notification.
The Power Division confirmed that the industrial support package will not affect residential or commercial consumers in any way. This package, designed to stimulate industrial and agricultural activity, is expected to significantly boost production, enhance competitiveness, and create new employment opportunities across the country.
Federal Minister for Energy, Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, stated that the three-year industrial package will enable the sector to plan its future operations with greater confidence and stability. He added that greenfield industries—including data centers and crypto-mining operations—will also benefit from the revised tariff structure.
The package will come into effect following the issuance of the official notification by the Power Division.
