Governor KP, Chairperson PEMRA discuss media role, agree on revival of DI Khan office

ISLAMABAD, Mar 18 (APP):Chairperson Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), Ambreen Jan, called on Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi at the Governor’s House here on Wednesday.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, the role of media, and the prevailing national situation were discussed in detail. The Governor appreciated the role of PEMRA and lauded the institution’s performance.
Faisal Karim Kundi said that in the current circumstances, the responsibilities of PEMRA had further increased, adding that the authority’s proactive role was vital for promoting responsible journalism. He emphasized that the media must ensure the dissemination of accurate and timely information to positively guide society.
The meeting also discussed the early restoration of the PEMRA office established in Dera Ismail Khan in 2008. Both sides agreed that reviving the office would help improve media regulation and facilitate better services at the local level.
On the occasion, the PEMRA chairperson briefed the Governor on the ongoing initiatives of the authority.
The Governor expressed hope that under Ambreen Jan’s leadership, the institution would continue to perform more effectively.
