LAHORE, Apr 10 (APP):Pakistani-American Tanveer Ahmed donated medicine worth three million dollars to Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar for the “Hepatitis Prevention Program” in Pakistan during a fund-raising event in New York.

Addressing the fund-raising dinner, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar said more than 18 million people were affected by the disease as contaminated water caused hepatitis, adding, the government had focused on the areas with larger hepatitis affected population, says a handout issued by the Punjab Governor’s House media cell, here on Wednesday.

Sarwar said the sole objective of Prime Minister’s “Ehsas” and “Health Card Scheme” was to provide basic necessities of life to the poor, adding that federal and provincial governments were employing all available resources to provide the basic provisions like health and education.

He said overseas Pakistanis were country’s asset. He said Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) government was working to uproot corruption, oppression and injustice from Pakistan, adding that the government would fulfill its promise of “One Pakistan” by bridging the chasm between the poor and the rich.

He said the PTI government had stopped political interference in the government institutions.

The governor said Pakistan was becoming stronger under the honest leadership of PM Imran Khan, adding that bad governance and corruption by the previous regimes was responsible of current economic crisis but the government would overcome all the challenges.
