Elements involved in corruption to face punishments: Fawad

ISLAMABAD, Oct 26 (APP):Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Friday said that Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) government would not compromise on corrupt people.
Elements involved in corruption would face punishments according to law, he stated while talking to a private news channel.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was working independently in the country and it was the responsibility of that institution to take action against the persons found involved in corruption.
No one was above the law and the NAB should act against such elements without discrimination, he stated.
Commenting on opposition’s move against democracy, he said if the government accepted their demand and provided relief to their leaders, or politicians having cases of corruption, then the opposition would appreciate government for strengthening democracy, otherwise “democracy” was in danger in the country.
Leaving such elements including Shehbaz Sharif, Nawaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari, Mushahidullah Khan and Khursheed Shah of Pakistan Peoples Party, on the behest of Opposition would be an irrational act, he said.
To a question about Nawaz Sharif, the information minister said according to investigative institution’s findings, the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, would face crunch according to law, because some 800 million rupees were transferred to the accounts of Maryam Nawaz, while the cook, driver and guard had accounts of different figures, he added.
About the role of Pakistan in the comity of nations, the minister said our country holds an immense significance around the world due to geo-strategic and geographic location.
Pakistani forces are one of the largest and strongest forces among the Muslim world, he said adding that we have modern political system in the state.
Lauding the role of Pakistan in 1960s, he said it tried to unite the Muslim world and after assuming power, Imran Khan had restored this status for uniting Muslim nations.
Pakistan civil and military leadership are on the same page for development and prosperity of this region, Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said.
Commenting on the role of NAB, he said it was working independently, adding that it was NAB’s prerogative to punish the elements involved in corruption activities.
About opposition’s ill-fated plan, he said that the political parties wanted to give tough time or put under pressure the PTI leaders. The present government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Imran Khan would never compromise on the matter of corruption.
He assured that NAB would go after them without discrimination.
