ISLAMABAD, Mar 17 (APP):Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad, Muhammad Jawad Tariq chaired a high-level meeting to review Eid-ul-Fitr security arrangements and crime prevention measures in the federal capital.
An official told APP on Tuesday that the meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Muhammad Usman Tariq Butt, SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza, SSP Security, zonal Superintendents of Police (SP) and SP Capital Patrol.
The DIG Tariq directed officers to ensure foolproof security at markets, Masjids and recreational spots during Chand Raat and Eid days.
He instructed that all patrolling units must remain visible in the field and that patrolling should be made more effective and purposeful.
Muhammad Jawad Tariq also directed that checking at entry and exit points of the city be further tightened.
He ordered a crackdown against aerial firing, hooliganism and one-wheeling to maintain law and order during Eid.
The DIG Tariq said special police squads, foot patrols, bicycle patrols and horse-mounted teams should be deployed at recreational spots and crowded areas.
He further directed that foolproof security and body searching must be ensured at Mosques during Eid congregations.
The DIG Tariq instructed officers to engage with neighborhood committees during Eid holidays and launch awareness campaigns advising citizens to secure their homes properly before leaving and ensure adequate lighting arrangements.
He also directed that traffic officers be deployed at busy locations and recreational areas to maintain smooth flow of traffic.
Tariq emphasized that proclaimed offenders and previously convicted criminals involved in serious crimes must be arrested.
