Devolution of power promise fulfilled: Governor Punjab

LAHORE, May 03 (APP):Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar on Friday said the government had fulfilled its promise of devolution of power through the enactment of Local Government (LG) Bill 2019 in Punjab.
“Local bodies will be empowered and the institutions will solve problems of people at their doorstep,” he said during a meeting with Members Provincial Assembly (MPAs) Sardar Malik Jahanzaib, Wasiq Qayyum, Ahmed Dogar, Syed Yawar Abbas, Malik Taimur Khan, Musarat Jamshed Cheema and Ex MPAs Nabeela Hakim and Meher Yaqub here at the governor house.
The governor said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) believed in transferring power to grass-root level through the local bodies and implementing every clause of its manifesto.
He said good governance, merit and transparency were top-priority of the government and every penny of the national exchequer would be safeguarded, adding the initiatives taken by the overseas Pakistanis reflected their confidence in Prime Minister Imran Khan.
He said corruption and looting of national resources were the major problems of the country.
Sarwar said enemies were unhappy over the country’s progress and trying to sabotage national progress, adding, policies of Prime Minister Imran Khan would solve all problems of the nation including unemployment, terrorism and corruption.
He said all the conspiracies aiming to destabilize Pakistan would meet failure under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The governor Punjab said the nation was united to fight all challenges and every Pakistani stood by the armed forces in the war against terrorism.
