ISLAMABAD, Oct 31 (APP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a high-level meeting on Friday to review infrastructural facilities at Karachi’s ports, emphasizing modernization, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in port operations.
The meeting was attended by the Minister for Maritime Affairs, Secretaries of Maritime and Finance, as well as Chairmen of Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and Port Qasim Authority (PQA), a DPM’s Office news release said.
The participants reviewed the recent modernization initiatives that have improved cargo handling capacity and reduced transaction costs. Discussions also focused on integrating advanced IT and engineering solutions to further streamline port operations.
Senator Dar directed the concerned ministries and port authorities to expedite implementation of reforms aimed at enhancing efficiency, transparency, and competitiveness of Pakistan’s maritime infrastructure.
He underscored that efficient port operations are critical to strengthening Pakistan’s trade connectivity and overall economic growth.
