Ceremony held to honor front-line polio workers

ISLAMABAD, Mar 31 (APP):Pakistan Polio Eradication Initiative (PEI) on Tuesday arranged a ceremony to pay tribute to its front-line workers, recognizing their unwavering dedication and critical role in the fight against polio.
The ceremony, held at the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) with virtual participation from Provincial Emergency Operations Centres (PEOCs), brought together front-line workers from across the country.
The event provided a rare platform for vaccinators and field staff to share their on-ground experiences, highlighting the challenges they face in reaching children in remote and high-risk areas.
Frontline workers recounted stories of perseverance, from navigating difficult terrains to overcoming vaccine hesitancy through community engagement and trust-building.
Their reflections underscored the resilience and commitment that continue to drive Pakistan’s efforts to eradicate the disease.
Chairing the event, Prime Minister’s Focal Person for Polio Eradication, Ms. Ayesha Raza Farooq, praised the workers for their tireless service.
“Our front-line workers are the backbone of this programme and the reason we are moving closer to a polio-free Pakistan,” she said.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates of appreciation among the workers. With the next national polio campaign set to begin on April 13, 2026, officials reiterated their commitment to reaching every child across the country. The PEI emphasized that the dedication of front-line workers remains vital to achieving the goal of a polio-free Pakistan.
