ISLAMABAD, Feb 12 (APP): The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board on Thursday approved the allotment of land for lawyers’ chambers and a multi-storey parking facility near Islamabad’s lower courts, while also reviewing key infrastructure, water management and digital mapping initiatives during its first meeting of 2026.
The meeting, chaired by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa at CDA headquarters, was attended by board members and senior officials, while Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali joined via video link.
According to an official statement, the board approved an alternate plot for the lawyers’ chambers and parking facility following a request from the Ministry of Law and Justice to replace an earlier allotted site. The board also approved the allotment of land to the Pakistan Engineering Council.

Discussions were held on a proposal to allocate land for a Field Audit Office Complex in Islamabad’s Mauve Area. The board further reviewed the feasibility study and detailed design of the Shahdara Dam project, along with plans for a water treatment plant and transmission lines aimed at meeting the capital’s growing water needs.
In addition, the CDA decided to seek technical assistance from SUPARCO and the Survey of Pakistan to develop GIS-based datasets, a digital basemap and geospatial web portals to support planning and decision-making across Islamabad’s administrative jurisdiction.
The board also approved hiring a government or state-owned entity consultant to assess and upgrade fire detection, suppression, life safety and HVAC systems at the Supreme Court building.
