Balochistan 2025: Resilience amid terror & transformation

ISLAMABAD, Jan 13 (APP): Balochistan’s resilience in 2025 has been tested by relentless terrorist campaigns orchestrated by groups like the BLA, BLF, and BRG.
These organizations, fueled and funded by foreign actors, particularly Indian proxies under the banner of Fitna e Hindustan, spread fear, chaos, and social decline, deliberately exploiting civilians, including women and children, as instruments of terror.
Yet, Pakistan’s government and security forces have stood unwavering. Over 78,000 operations were executed, neutralizing 707 terrorists and foiling 432 attacks, protecting civilians, infrastructure, and key personnel.
Security extended to border and coastal areas, shutting down smuggling, drug routes, and crippling terrorist networks’ mobility and financial lifelines.
Meanwhile, development has surged alongside security. The Balochistan Special Development Initiative (BSDI), in partnership with the Pakistan Armed Forces, allocated Rs5 billion for 137 projects across districts, including Kech, Khuzdar, Washuk, Chagai, Panjgur, and Kalat. By year-end, 13 projects were completed, from solar-powered rural health centers and madrasas to street lighting in Washuk and funeral grounds in Kalat and Khuzdar. Across 35 districts, 969 BSDI projects were launched, improving roads, energy, health, water, and education infrastructure in remote areas. A Monitoring & Evaluation system for PSDP projects ensured transparency and efficient execution.
Economic confidence is growing, too. Five major Pakistani business groups announced $5 billion in private-sector investment, largely targeting gold and copper in Chagai.
The flagship Reko Diq project, one of the world’s largest undeveloped copper-gold deposits, secured $3.5 billion in international financing from institutions including the ADB and US Export-Import Bank, transitioning from planning to construction. Phase One, valued at $7 billion, promises 7,500–13,500 jobs, while the Government of Balochistan holds 25% equity, a testament to local empowerment in strategic development.
The contrast could not be clearer: while terrorists manipulate grievances and spread lies, Pakistan’s security forces and development initiatives deliver tangible protection, progress, and prosperity.
Brutal acts falsely portrayed as “freedom struggles” are exposed for what they truly are, organized attempts to destabilize Balochistan while exploiting innocent lives.
Balochistan stands at the forefront of Pakistan’s strategic and economic vision, with immense potential now being actively harnessed through targeted development initiatives.
Recently, at the 18th National Workshop on Balochistan, Chief of the Army Staff and Chief of the Defence Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, highlighted the province’s pivotal role, saying, “Balochistan’s strategic and economic importance is central to Pakistan’s future growth and prosperity.”
Key projects, including the Balochistan Special Development Initiative, Solarisation of Agricultural Tube Wells, the RISE Programme for resilience and socio-economic empowerment, and improvements in public transport and healthcare, reflect a people-centered approach designed to benefit local communities directly. Supported by both federal and provincial governments, these efforts are unlocking the province’s vast natural and economic resources.
The people of Balochistan have shown remarkable resilience and patriotism, standing firm against attempts to destabilize their communities. While external actors and proxy groups have sought to spread violence and hinder development, the combined efforts of the security forces, civil society, and local leadership have preserved stability and safeguarded progress.
Field Marshal Munir praised this steadfastness, stating, “The resilience and national spirit of the Baloch people have been pivotal in overcoming challenges and preserving stability.
He also underscored the vital role of civil society, adding, “Civil society plays a crucial role in countering propaganda, fostering national cohesion, and promoting sustainable development.
Looking ahead, continued investment in security, development, and community engagement promises an era of inclusive growth and opportunity, positioning Balochistan as a model of resilience, prosperity, and national unity.
