ISLAMABAD, Nov 10 (APP):Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal on Monday expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise of eminent educationist, researcher and intellectual Professor Syeda Arfa Zehra.
In his condolence message, the minister said Professor Zehra was a distinguished Pakistani scholar, human rights advocate and a courageous voice who made invaluable contributions to education, research and the promotion of social justice.
Despite her fragile health, Ahsan Iqbal said, she attended the Uraan Pakistan Creative Economy Conference in Karachi earlier this year at his invitation, demonstrating her deep commitment to learning and cultural advancement.
This year, the minister said, she was also conferred with the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Medal of Excellence) in recognition of her exceptional academic services, moral leadership, and efforts to promote equity and social harmony.
With her demise, he said, Pakistan has lost a towering intellectual and moral figure.
He prayed to Allah Almighty to grant the deceased the highest rank in Jannat-ul-Firdous and give strength to her family to bear this irreparable loss with equanimity.
