ISLAMABAD, Mar 16 (APP): Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police arrested an Afghan dacoit, who was injured during an exchange of fire with a police raiding team, while his accomplice managed to escape from the scene.
An official told APP on Monday that the incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Tarnol Police Station, where a police team conducted a raid after receiving information about the presence of suspects planning a robbery.
He said that two armed suspects opened indiscriminate fire on the police raiding team upon seeing them.
However, the police personnel remained safe due to timely defensive measures and the use of bulletproof jackets.
During the encounter, one suspect, identified as Hazrat Wali, was injured by firing from his accomplice and was arrested by the police.
The official said that a 30-bore pistol used in criminal activities was recovered from the possession of the arrested suspect.
During preliminary investigation, the accused confessed that he had committed multiple robbery incidents at gunpoint along with his accomplice Kamran Afghan.
He further revealed that the arrested suspect, Hazrat Wali, is a resident of Afghanistan and was staying illegally in Pakistan.
