ISLAMABAD, Apr 02 (APP):Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi on Thursday stressed the need to utilize all available resources to enhance the performance of Pakistan Railways and provide improved services to passengers and freight customers across the country.
Chairing a meeting on the repair and rehabilitation of out-of-service railway coaches, the minister directed officials to expedite the restoration process and ensure the early return of coaches to operational use.
He issued firm instructions for the prompt rehabilitation of all under-repair coaches, with special emphasis on those at the Mughalpura Workshop, underscoring the importance of their immediate deployment to strengthen overall railway operations.
Highlighting the significance of improved service delivery, Hanif Abbasi called for addressing the shortage of coaches and wagons while streamlining operational efficiency across the network.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, he said that efforts are underway to transform Pakistan Railways into a more efficient, reliable and passenger-friendly organization.
During the briefing, the officials apprised the minister of the current status of passenger and freight revenues, along with ongoing initiatives aimed at boosting income in the current fiscal year.
The minister set ambitious targets for revenue growth and directed authorities to take swift and practical measures to make the railway system financially sustainable and profitable.
Noting that over 200 coaches are currently under repair, Hanif Abbasi directed officials to ensure their timely restoration through improved management and effective utilization of available resources.
