ISLAMABAD, May 2 (APP):Minister for Information and Technology and Telecommunication Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui Thursday informed the National Assembly that presently 5,319 employees were working in the ministry and its attached departments, authorities, corporations, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies and organizations.

Responding to a question during Question Hour, he said the ministry and its organizations were strictly observing provincial quota.
Presently 200 employees were working in Ministry of Information and Technology and its attached departments belonging to the Balochistan province, he said. He said provincial quota of Balochistan was being observed strictly.

It is to be mentioned here that only posts were to be filled through direct recruitment in the ministry and its attached departments were filled on quota basis while posts reserved for promotion and absorption were not filled on quota basis.

To another question, the minister said Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has informed that its system of customer care unit was working and complaints were being processed from system automatically as well as through its line staff.

In case, the problem was not resolved through online tools, the complaint was assigned to the respective exchange, where field staff physically attends the fault for trouble shooting and resolution, he said.

To a question, Khalid Maqbool said the ministry through Universal Service Fund – a company, was working on a number of projects to provide 3G and 4G broadband services in erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas.
