UET Peshawar launches spring tree plantation drive

University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar (UET) on Wednesday launched its spring tree plantation campaign with a pledge to promote environmental sustainability and address climate change challenges.

PESHAWAR, Mar 25 (APP): University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar (UET) on Wednesday launched its spring tree plantation campaign with a pledge to promote environmental sustainability and address climate change challenges.
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iftikhar Hussain Khalil inaugurated the drive by planting a sapling on campus. Speaking on the occasion, he said tree plantation plays a vital role in mitigating the impacts of climate change and improving environmental conditions.
He urged faculty members, students and staff to actively participate in the campaign and help promote a culture of environmental responsibility for the benefit of present and future generations.
The initiative also aims to contribute towards achieving key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to food security, climate action and life on land.
Administrative Officer Jahangir Khan said that around 3,000 saplings would be planted across the university’s main campus and its satellite campuses in Nowshera, Bannu and Abbottabad.
Senior faculty members, including Prof Dr Rizwan Mahmood Gul, Dr Khizar Azam Khan and other officials, also participated in the plantation campaign.
