Suspects in attempted murder attack on Dr. Asif Malik arrested

Police in Peshawar have arrested the suspects involved in an attempted murder attack on Dr. Asif Malik, police confirmed on Sunday.

PESHAWAR, Apr 05 (APP): Police in Peshawar have arrested the suspects involved in an attempted murder attack on Dr. Asif Malik, police confirmed on Sunday.
Police said, the incident took place within the jurisdiction of Town Police Station in University Town area. Acting swiftly, law enforcement authorities traced and apprehended the suspects within 24 hours of the attack. However, for some investigative procedure their arrest was made public today.
Capital City Police Chief Dr. Mian Saeed stated that the arrests were made using modern investigative techniques along with assistance from Safe City surveillance cameras. The suspects have been identified as Sultan Raza and Shafaqat Hussain, residents of Kohat.
Police also recovered the vehicle used in the attack bearing registration number BF-6845 Sindh as well as the weapon involved.
Initial investigations suggest that the motive behind the attack was a financial dispute between the suspects and Dr. Asif Malik.
Further investigations are underway with police assuring that strict legal action would be taken against those involved.
