KP Govt adjusts working hours to ease burden of surging electricity prices

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced important measures to ensure efficient and prudent use of electricity across the province in view of the current regional situation and increasing pressure on fuel supply. 

PESHAWAR, Apr 05 (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced important measures to ensure efficient and prudent use of electricity across the province in view of the current regional situation and increasing pressure on fuel supply.
According to a notification issued here on Sunday, these measures to become effective from April 6 (Monday) are aimed at protecting the public from rising electricity prices and maintaining continuous availability of energy.
In this context, new temporary restrictions have been imposed to reduce unnecessary electricity consumption, so that energy can be saved, especially in the evening hours, while essential services and economic activities continue without any disruption.
With the approval of the authorities, the following working hours will be implemented across the province.
All markets, shopping plazas, commercial centers and night sports activities in divisional headquarters will be closed by 9:00 PM.
All markets, shopping plazas and commercial activities in other districts will be closed by 8:00 PM.
All restaurants, cafes and food outlets will remain closed by 10:00 pm, however home delivery and takeaway services may continue.
Wedding halls, marquees, event halls and other functions will be closed by 10:00 pm.
Under these guidelines, commercial establishments will include private offices, consultancies, agencies, banks, educational academies, tuition centres, shops, showrooms, jewellery shops, bakeries, gyms, fitness centres, guest houses, catering services and other businesses of the same nature.
Meanwhile Agriculture, construction activities, medical stores/pharmacies (24 hours, with specific conditions), hospitals, laboratories and emergency health services, Tanoor (for preparing roti/naan), Petrol pumps are exempted from these restrictions due to their essential nature.
The government has appealed to the public, traders and all concerned sections to ensure full implementation of these instructions so that energy conservation can be possible in the national interest and additional financial burden on the public can be avoided.
