Governor reviews NTC initiatives to expand internet access in KP

PESHAWAR, Mar 17 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi was briefed on Tuesday regarding the overall performance and ongoing projects of the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) in the province.

The briefing was held at the Governor House, where Director NTC Peshawar Noor Hakim apprised the Governor of the corporation’s operational framework and initiatives across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During the session, the Governor was informed about NTC’s institutional structure established in 12 districts of the province. He was also briefed on various ongoing projects being executed in both settled and merged tribal districts under the corporation’s management.

Officials highlighted key initiatives at the national level, including the modern transmission network system, establishment of data centers, solarization projects, public Wi-Fi schemes, and provision of internet facilities in schools and basic health units.

The Governor was further informed that around 10,000 telephone connections and approximately 2,000 DSL internet services are currently operational under NTC in the province. It was also shared that a high-speed fiber internet project worth Rs300 million is underway in Peshawar.

The briefing noted that NTC holds the mandate to provide data, Information Technology, and telecommunication services to all government institutions across the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Kundi termed the initiatives aimed at ensuring high-speed internet and improved communication connectivity as vital steps toward digital development. He said these projects would play a key role in delivering modern facilities to the public.

He emphasized the need to ensure easy access to digital services for every citizen, whether living in urban centers or remote and merged districts.

The Governor also stressed that timely completion of all projects should remain a top priority to provide efficient and quality services to the people.
