AJK PM seeks effective utilization of funds, timely completion of development projects

MIRPUR (AJK), Oct 15 (APP):Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister, Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq on Tuesday emphasized the need of effective utilization of funds and timely completion of development projects.
He was chairing a high level review meeting of different departments at PWD Rest House in scenic  Banjosa town of Poonch division.
The prime minister warned the state functionaries that any negligence or poor performance on the part of the  officials and staff of the department would not be tolerated.
He said that the poor performance of a department dents the government’s public image.
The AJK PM strongly instructed the officers of the nation-building state departments that the funds released by the government were for the welfare of the people, every single rupee should be seen by the people.
“Top officials of the department as well as the government ministers should pay surprise visits to construction sites to ensure quality of work”, the PM said, adding that stern action must be taken against the negligent officers or employees.
Anwar while terming Toli Peer Road as a game changer project, said that since the funds for the project had been released there should be no delay in completing it in the stipulated time frame.
He said that funds had also been given separately for patchwork of the main roads.
The PM said that along with pertinent officials of the department, the Deputy Commissioner would be responsible for holding a cross-check of the patchwork.
The prime minister, on the occasion, directed the concerned authorities to release funds allocated for the construction of District Jail building in Rawlakot.
He directed to complete work December so that the prisoners could be shifted there.
He also directed the authorities of the department of electricity to take effective measures to prevent electricity theft.
Expressing his displeasure over the less recovery rate, the PM said that despite having cheap electricity, the average rate of recovery was not increasing.
Senior Minister Colonel (R) Waqar Noor while addressing the review meeting said, “Since the shortage of staff in educational institutions has been met, there will be no compromise on quality education”.
He said that a social media App was being introduced to ensure better monitoring of officers and staff of all departments.
Meanwhile, a delegation of special persons, which called on Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar Haq, sought his role in implementation of the quota for disabled persons.
The AJK PM assured the special persons of his all out support in that regard.
He said that special people were an important part of our society.
“The government is duty-bound to provide facilities to the differently abled persons and safeguard their rights”, the PM remarked.
The meeting was attended among others by senior minister Col. Retd Waqar Ahmad Noor, Information Minister, Pir Muhammad Mazhar Saeed Shah, Sardar Mir Akbar Khan, Sardar Amir Altaf and officers of the concerned departments.
