Passion for video games shapes a new generation of players

Jeddah, Mar 9 (SPA/APP): Amid the accelerating digital transformation, video games are no longer merely a form of entertainment; they have evolved into a global culture and digital community bringing together millions of players around the world.
They provide young people with a space to express their passion and develop cognitive and technical skills. Abdulaziz Nabil stands out as an example of a new generation that has found in this virtual world a space for enjoyment, learning, and communication, particularly during the nights of the holy month of Ramadan.
Abdulaziz’s relationship with video games began at an early age, around eight years old, through the PlayStation console, which served as his gateway into this vast digital world.
At that stage, gaming was simply an enjoyable experience through which he spent hours having fun. However, his curiosity about the field gradually led him to explore it more deeply and discover different gaming styles that require skill, planning, and interaction with other players.
Over the years, Abdulaziz moved to playing on a personal computer (PC). In remarks to SPA, he noted that esports opened broader horizons in the gaming world, making the experience more professional in terms of performance, communication, and competition with players from around the globe.
He explained that playing on a computer offers greater capabilities in control and interaction, in addition to the wide variety of games and digital platforms that bring millions of players together in one virtual space.
During Ramadan, Abdulaziz’s daily routine takes on a different rhythm that aligns with the nature of the holy month. Fasting does not hinder his practice of the hobby; rather, he believes it sometimes provides a mental state that helps him concentrate. He explained that video games essentially rely on quick thinking, attentiveness, and decision-making at the right moment—mental skills that are strengthened in the calm and focused atmosphere he finds during Ramadan nights.
Abdulaziz emphasized that his experience with gaming is not limited to entertainment alone, noting that the hobby has significantly contributed to developing his language skills, particularly in English. Most modern games rely on English for instructions, dialogue, and technical terminology, which motivated him to enhance his understanding of the language in order to progress within games and achieve success.
Online gaming has also allowed him to communicate with players from different countries and cultures through multiplayer platforms such as Discord, in addition to in-game communication systems. As a result, English has become an integral part of his daily experience, whether while coordinating with teammates or discussing gaming strategies.
Balancing competition, communication, and learning, Abdulaziz continues his journey in the world of video games, enjoying an experience that goes beyond traditional entertainment. The enjoyment is not limited to winning within the game, but extends to acquiring skills, building relationships, and interacting with a global community united by a shared passion.
