Lee calls for all-out efforts to root out illegal practices in real estate, stock market, other crimes

SEOUL, Mar 6 (YONHAP/APP): President Lee Jae Myung on Friday instructed his aides to come up with measures to rein in real estate speculation and eradicate stock manipulation as part of efforts to “normalize” what he labeled as “seven major abnormalities.”

Lee made the remarks during a meeting with his senior secretaries and aides, calling for efforts to normalize irregularities in society in order to overcome the current wave of crises coming from outside the country.

“The idea must take root that those who get caught attempting to take unfair profit could face financial losses so severe that recovery is impossible and they could end up in ruin,” he said.

Lee also instructed officials to ensure the strict enforcement of existing measures and to come up with additional measures if necessary.

The seven abnormalities he cited comprise drug-related crimes, corruption among public officials, voice phishing, illegal activities in the real estate sector, large-scale tax delinquency, stock manipulation and industrial incidents.
