Korean folk art exhibition opens in Minsk

MINSK, Oct 31 (BelTA/APP): An exhibition of Korean art has opened at the National Art Museum of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

The international exhibition Minhwa: The Art of Korea has launched at the National Art Museum, co-organized by the Korean association World Peace Art Exhibition Committee with support from the Belarusian embassy in South Korea. The exposition marks an important milestone in the cultural exchange between the two states.

The Korean folk painting Minhwa has its roots in the daily lives and customs of ordinary people. Characterized by bright colors, decorative symbols, and natural motifs, it embodies aspirations for happiness, long life, love, and harmony.

The exhibition features some fifty works by contemporary masters of traditional Korean painting, each conveying the artists’ desire to showcase the spirit and beauty of national art in its modern interpretation.

Chairman of the World Peace Art Exhibition Committee Lee Jon-Young noted that today folk painting transcends time and borders, sharing with the world heartfelt warmth and the unique artistic journey of his country. “We believe that this exhibition will bring Belarus and the Republic of Korea closer together through cultural dialogue and a shared appreciation for the beauty of peace. Art is the language of hearts, knowing no borders,” he emphasized.

Deputy Head of the Department of Culture and Folk Art of the Belarusian Ministry of Culture Nadezhda Avdei conveyed a message from Belarusian Culture Minister Ruslan Chernetsky. “Such cooperation fulfills a crucial task of intercultural dialogue and mutual spiritual enrichment of our peoples. For the Belarusian audience, the Minhwa: The Art of Korea exhibition at the National Art Museum unveils a new story unfolding in a realm of profound symbolism. Steeped in Korean cultural identity, the artistic imagery in these works carries a message of harmony and peace,” the message reads.
