Bulgarian Caretaker PM Gurov to attend European Council Summit in Brussels

SOFIA, Mar 18 (BTA/APP): Caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov will participate in the regular European Council meeting in Brussels on March 19-20, the Council of Ministers said in a press release.

European leaders are set to discuss key international and EU issues, including the military escalation in the Middle East and the situation in Iran, as well as the resulting impacts on the European Union’s energy prices and energy security. Other topics on the agenda include the EU’s strategic competitiveness, the next Multiannual Financial Framework, security and defence, and migration challenges.

Gurov will also attend the Eurozone summit, with Bulgaria represented for the first time as a full member.

On Wednesday evening in Brussels, Gurov is scheduled to meet with European Council President Antonio Costa, the institution’s press office said. On Thursday afternoon, he is expected to meet with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, according to the Alliance’s press office.
