BEIJING, June 12 (APP): The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Day Reception held in Beijing.
Addressing the participants, SCO Secretary General, Nurlan Yermekbayev said that today’s reception is taking place at the threshold of China’s SCO presidency, aimed at achieving concrete practical results in accordance with the motto “Upholding the Shanghai Spirit: SCO on the Move.”
He expressed his gratitude to the Chinese side for the painstaking work toward high-quality preparations for the upcoming major events: Tianjin Summit, the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers and others, which are expected to result in the adoption of a number of important documents.
This year, the SCO will also hold a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government in Russia, which will be a logical continuation of the meeting in Tianjin and will focus on the practical implementation of the agreements reached by our leaders, he said.
The secretary general said that over the past few years, the SCO has become one of the most important participants in the modern system of international relations, and its international standing and influence have grown.
He said that an important reason for the increasing attractiveness of the SCO is the adherence to the “Shanghai spirit,” and more and more like-minded partner countries from the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, North Africa and other regions of the world have shown interest in the SCO.
It is worth mentioning that on June 15, 2001, the heads of Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan established the SCO, which over the years has proved its vitality and made an invaluable contribution to strengthening regional security, developing and expanding trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
The ambassador, diplomats and officials of the SCO member States, Observers and Dialogue partners were present.
