BEIJING, Feb 2 (APP):The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Beijing Municipal People’s Government jointly hosted a Spring Festival reception for foreign journalists at the Beijing Arts Center. Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Hong Lei attended and delivered a speech. Zhao Weidong, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the Beijing Municipal Committee in charge of daily work, and Huang Yihua, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Beijing Municipal Government, were also present.
Hong Lei extended his Lunar New Year greetings to foreign journalists stationed in China, stating that 2025 was an extraordinary year, with the once-in-a-century changes accelerating, the international situation intertwined with turmoil, and global challenges becoming more prominent. Humanity has reached another critical crossroads. China upholds its belief in a shared future for mankind and firmly stands on the right side of history.
China provides certainty to the world through its stability, offers new opportunities through its openness, and promotes the cause of peace, development, and progress for humanity through its commitment. 2026 marks the start of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, and China will resolutely open a new chapter for national rejuvenation and write a new chapter for human well-being. Safeguarding peace, promoting cooperation, responding to changes, and upholding moral responsibility, China will make greater contributions to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
Hong Lei stated that foreign journalists serve as a bridge connecting China and the world, playing a vital role in facilitating communication between China and the world. He expressed his hope that journalists would use an objective and impartial perspective, along with in-depth and professional reporting, to tell the world the story of China’s modernization, the story of mutually beneficial cooperation, common development, and shared destiny between China and other countries, and to play a positive role in promoting friendly and cooperative relations between China and other nations.
The reception was brightly decorated and filled with a festive atmosphere. Approximately 700 people attended, including foreign journalists and their families, press officers from foreign embassies, spokespersons from relevant ministries, domestic experts, scholars, and media representatives.
After the reception, guests from various countries enjoyed a wonderful “Dragon and Horse Spirit” New Year concert.
