PSCA virtual blood bank saves 4-year-old child

LAHORE, Apr 01 (APP):The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) saved the life of a child suffering from blood cancer by arranging timely O+ blood through its Virtual Blood Bank during a medical emergency,a spokesperson said on Wednesday.
According to details, the child, Saddam Hussain(4),r/o Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was admitted to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, where his father contacted Emergency Helpline-15 seeking urgent blood assistance.
The spokesperson said that a Safe City officer promptly responded and using the Virtual Blood Bank database,located a suitable donor without delay. A conference call was arranged to connect the donor with the family,following which the donor immediately reached the hospital and donated blood,ensuring timely transfusion and saving the child’s life.
The family expressed gratitude to the Safe City team for their swift and effective response.
Citizens were urged to seek assistance in medical emergencies by calling Helpline-15 and pressing 4.
The spokesperson added that the Virtual Blood Bank remains operational round the clock to provide timely support and help save precious human lives.
