BRUSSELS, Jun 12 (APP): The high-level Parliamentary Delegation on Thursday expressed concerns over serious humanitarian consequences of placing Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) in abeyance, warning against the perilous precedent of weaponizing water.

The high-level Parliamentary Delegation led by MNA Hina Rabani Khar and Senator Faisal Subzwari met Director General for Bilateral Affairs at Ministry of Foreign Affairs Belgium, Brigit Stevens to discuss the security situation in South Asia, the Pakistan Embassy in Belgium wrote on its official X wall.

The delegation, underscoring Pakistan’s principled approach of restraint and responsibility, reaffirmed its commitment to peace, regional stability, and multilateralism. They emphasized that sustainable peace in South Asia requires a just and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in line with the UN Charter and relevant Security Council resolutions.

They stressed that normalizing unilateral escalatory actions would undermine the rules-based international order and called for upholding the sanctity of international treaties.

The two sides also reviewed Pakistan-Belgium bilateral relations and discussed avenues to expand cooperation across political, economic, and development sectors.
