RAWALPINDI, Jan 05 (APP):Mushaal Hussein Malik, Chairperson of the Organisation for Peace and Culture and wife of incarcerated Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik, warned on Monday that any attempt on her husband’s life could have “explosive consequences,” urging the international community to intervene ahead of his sentencing by India on January 28.
Speaking to the media outside the Rawalpindi Press Club on Right to Self-Determination Day, accompanied by city traders, Mushaal said Narendra Modi’s policies posed a threat to global peace.
Mushaal said a public awareness campaign had been launched in November, marking the first time street-level outreach informed people about Yasin Malik’s situation. She warned that the situation was a “ticking time bomb” and said Modi would be responsible if it exploded.
She said the campaign would continue across Rawalpindi’s markets and housing societies, including a signature drive demanding Yasin Malik’s release.
Highlighting the nuclear dimension, Mushaal noted that both Pakistan and India possessed atomic weapons and that tensions in Asia could escalate uncontrollably. She added that even Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir had alerted the United States to Modi’s intentions, and that opposition parties in India had criticised their prime minister.
Responding to a question on Indian politician Asaduddin Owaisi, she said the plight of minorities in India was well documented and urged legal action through Pakistan’s Foreign Office and the United Nations.
She underscored that Kashmir remained a fundamental issue and called for a permanent Pakistani envoy on the matter.
