NAWABSHAH, Oct 29 (APP):On the occasion of World Food Day, the Department of Food Shaheed Benazirabad, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization and District Human Appeal Organization, on Wednesday organized a ceremony at Government Boys Degree College Nawabshah under the theme “Better Food, Better Future.”
Various government departments including Health, Livestock, and Agriculture, as well as social organizations, set up scientific and cultural exhibitions and food stalls. Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Division Shamheer Khan Bhutto inaugurated the scientific and cultural exhibition. Later, a formal ceremony was held in the college auditorium.
Addressing the gathering, the Commissioner said that observing World Food Day aimed to raise public awareness about food security, prevention of food wastage and the importance of a balanced diet. He emphasized that it was crucial to educate young generation about healthy eating, as a healthy nation was the foundation of development.
The Commissioner said that Pakistan had sufficient food resources, but it was essential to ensure that safe and quality food reaches every citizen. He added that Sindh Government was promoting modern scientific techniques to enhance agricultural production and overcome food shortages to meet nutritional needs.
Addressing the event, Dr. Arsalan, focal person of Food and Agriculture Organization and Dodo Khan Zardari from Human Appeal Organization, said that purpose of this program was to raise awareness about the importance of food and highlight the need to prevent food wastage.
Among those present on the occasion were Director Livestock Dr. Nobat Khoso, Deputy Director Livestock Dr. Ejaz Hussain Laghari, Deputy Director Poultry Production Dr. Tariq Noorani, Senior Veterinary Officer Dr. Abdul Qayoom Khanzada, Dr. Rizwan Keerio, and Principal Muzammil Hussain Gujar, and officers from various departments.
