RAWALPINDI, Jul 26 (APP):Chairperson Punjab Women Protection Authority, Hina Parvez Butt said that protection of women’s rights is a top priority of Punjab government. She highlighted that the Punjab government was taking anti-violence measures for allowing women to play their role in society with full legal protection and freedom. CM Maryam Nawaz is the defender of women rights, she said.
She was talking to the media following her visit to the Women Counter, District Women Protection Center and Social Welfare Complex here on Friday. Hina underlined that development of a country remained impossible without the involvement and active role of women in every field of life.
Women victims of violence and abuse are provided complete protection at the District Women Protection Centre, she said adding that like all over the province, Punjab Women Protection Authority in Rawalpindi was active for timely response to ensure women protection.
She informed that virtual Women Police Stations work round the clock to counter any violence in this regard. She further informed that a Women Protection Counter was also functioning in Command and Control Room in Police Line for women’s complaints redressal, she added.
Earlier, the chairperson made a detailed visit to District Women Protection Center, Social Welfare Complex and Women Counter which is established in Command and Control Room of Police Line Rawalpindi where she reviewed the arrangements made to provide protection to women. SP Headquarters Benish Fatima briefed the chairperson regarding the special women counter, complaint cell and virtual women police station set up in command and control room.
She briefed that women’s complaints were not only redressed promptly but protection to complainants were also being ensured. Director Social Welfare Rawalpindi Rana Shahid, District Women Protection Officer Rizwana Bashir and other officers were also present during her visit.
