QUETTA, Jul 30 (APP):Provincial Advisor for Women Development Department, Dr. Rubaba Khan Buledi, has emphasized that women in Balochistan form the backbone of the agricultural sector, and without encouraging their leadership, training, and innovation-based contributions, the dream of sustainable development cannot be realized.
She was addressing the seminar titled “Women in Agriculture: Advancing Leadership and Innovation”, held at the Governor House Quetta.
The event was jointly organized by the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF), the Government of Balochistan, and Paigham-e-Pakistan.
Dr. Buledi stated that the Government of Balochistan, through the Women Development Department, is actively working to empower both rural and urban women towards economic independence.
She stressed that women in agriculture should not be treated merely as laborers, but must be integrated into decision-making roles so that their capabilities can contribute effectively to economic stability.
Highlighting the challenges of climate change, resource scarcity, and food insecurity, she underscored the necessity of engaging women farmers in finding sustainable solutions. She proposed empowering women through access to modern agricultural technologies, market linkages, financial services, and training programs.
Dr. Buledi expressed her gratitude to PPAF, the European Union, and other partner organizations for organizing the seminar and reaffirmed the commitment of the Balochistan Government to support women’s leadership in agriculture in every possible way.
The seminar was attended by Governor Balochistan Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, along with representatives from government and non-governmental organizations, experts, women farmers, and youth participants.
