FAISALABAD, Jul 07 (APP):Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) has completed construction of an underground storage tank on Dijkot Road which would significantly improve rainwater drainage during the monsoon season, said Managing Director WASA Sohail Qadir Cheema.
During his visit to the site here on Monday, he said that the facility would become fully operational as soon as FESCO electricity connection is provided. He reviewed drainage preparedness at various key locations including Dijkot Road Storage Tank, PS-34 Samanabad, D-Type Colony Disposal Station and Risalaywala Drainage Line.
He directed the concerned officers to ensure full operational readiness of these facilities before the onset of heavy monsoon rains.
At PS-34 Samanabad, he said that the contractor for newly approved disposal station must be mobilized immediately and construction work should commence without delay in line with NESPAK-approved designs.
During his visit to the existing disposal station at PS-34, the MD evaluated the performance of current pumping systems and instructed the team to ensure reliable backup arrangements in case of power outage.
He also inspected D-Type Colony Disposal Station and underlined the need for speedy water discharge capabilities during peak rain period.
Regarding Risalaywala drainage line, the MD ordered special measures to expedite its completion.
He said that a series of proactive steps has been taken to strengthen the drainage infrastructure for providing significant relief to the public during monsoon.
With new system enhancements, WASA would be able to improve flood management and reduce urban water-logging in the coming weeks, he added.
Deputy Managing Director (DMD) Services Ikramullah Chaudhry, Director Construction Dr. Usman Latif, Director Operations Farooq Najeeb, Deputy Director Nauman Noor, Adnan Gul and others were also present on the occasion.
