LAHORE, Nov 26 (APP): The ongoing upgradation and progress review of the Price Control & Commodities Management Department (PC&CM) was discussed in detail during a briefing given by Secretary Price Control & Commodities Management, Dr Kiran Khurshid, to Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Punjab on Price Control, Salma Butt, here on Wednesday.
DG Punjab Food Authority Asim Javaid, Cane Commissioner Punjab Amjad Hafeez, and senior officials concerned were also present.
Dr Kiran Khurshid briefed that the department’s reorganisation, the overhaul of its rules and regulations, revamping of subsidiary bodies, and the introduction of a smart digital system have collectively enhanced departmental performance. She said the digitalisation initiative has enabled real-time monitoring of markets across all districts of Punjab, particularly regarding the supply and demand situation of essential food items.
She added that the new system directly tracks the entry of goods transport vehicles into markets and the availability of essential commodities, a development that is helping curb hoarding, overcharging, and profiteering. According to the Secretary, the smart digital system further facilitates direct monitoring of the field performance of officers and staff, reflected in improved market regulation and a visible reduction in prices of key commodities.
Dr Kiran Khurshid also informed the Special Assistant that the promotion and service structure of officers and staff is being upgraded to ensure timely career progression and improved service delivery.
