GUJRAT, Oct 28 (APP):The Department of Islamic Studies at the University of Gujrat (UoG) hosted a seminar titled Safeguarding Faith in the Age of Social Media under the banner of the Hayateen Islamic Forum (HIF) at Hafiz Hayat Campus.
The event featured renowned religious scholar Allama Ghulam Bashir Naqshbandi as the chief guest, alongside Dr. Shoaib Arif (Coordinator of HIF), Dr. Najeeb Abbas, poet Shakeel Janjua, and Yasir Hussain Jami as guests of honor.
In his address, Allama Naqshbandi emphasized that faith is the cornerstone of success, both in this world and the hereafter. He discussed the dual nature of social media, stating that while it can serve as a tool for moral reform when used positively, its misuse leads to societal chaos and moral decline. He cautioned the audience about the negative impacts of excessive screen time, which, he noted, can harm both mental and physical health, spread misinformation, and weaken faith.
Poet Shakeel Janjua captivated the audience with his Hamdiya and Naatiya poetry, receiving widespread applause. Dr. Shoaib Arif also stressed the importance of using technology ethically in the digital era, calling for a balanced approach that preserves values while engaging with modern tools.
The seminar highlighted the need to safeguard faith and values in an increasingly digital world, urging responsible use of social media and technology.
