SARGODHA, Jun 03 (APP):Sargodha Waste Management Company(SWMC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rana Shahid Imran on Tuesday said that a comprehensive plan had formulated for timely cleaning and disposal of waste of sacrificial animals on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
According to press release issued here, the CEO said that a zero waste campaign will be launched at 112 collection points in 42 union councils. At least 10,000 workers and 100 supervisors would be performing duties during the Eid. 3,000 machines would be used in cleaning operation and biodegradable bags would be distributed to all households in all four districts.
Rana highlighted that around seven to eight lakh cattle were expected to be sacrificed in the district,which will generate around 50 to 60,000 tonnes of waste.To address this situation,additional machines and three-four auto-rickshaws will be provided in all union councils.
Pits will be prepared for the burial of the remains where as the place of sacrifice will be washed with water cannons and immediately sprinkled with lime and phenyl to ensure the prevention of unpleasant odors and diseases.
