Swift action taken in Khanewal on illegal occupations under 2025 Property Act

KHANEWAL, Dec 18 (APP):The Punjab Protection of Ownership of Immovable Property Act 2025 has emerged as a major legal instrument for safeguarding private properties in Khanewal, providing relief to rightful owners against illegal occupation.
Since the establishment of the District Resolution Committee (DRC) under the new law, a total of 149 applications have been received so far. Following hearings in 89 cases, decisions have been announced in 62 applications, resulting in the restoration of possession of 53 private properties to their lawful owners.
According to official sources, eight applications were rejected due to various legal and procedural reasons, while one application was declared irrelevant.
Deputy Commissioner Maliha Rashid, while presiding over the ninth meeting of the District Resolution Committee, heard 40 applications. After due process, decisions were announced in 17 cases, with orders issued for the immediate retrieval of properties from illegal occupants and their return to the rightful owners.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Khalid Abbas Sial, assistant commissioners, and concerned revenue officers.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that work on the remaining 87 pending applications is progressing swiftly, reaffirming the district administration’s commitment to ensuring prompt justice and effective protection of private property rights under the new legislation.
