PESHAWAR, Oct 15 (APP):Students of the University of Peshawar (UoP) have expressed high hopes from the newly elected Chief Minister, Sohail Khan Afridi, expecting significant reforms in education, employment, and the overall law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Sohail Afridi, who hails from the tribal districts and has become the first Chief Minister from the merged areas, is seen as a symbol of change and representation for historically neglected regions.
Students believe his leadership could bridge the development gap between the settled and merged districts.
A student from the International Relations Department said, “The new Chief Minister belongs to the merged districts, which gives us hope that he understands the real issues of the region and will work for the welfare of our people.”
Another student from the Sociology Department remarked, “Our province is facing major challenges such as deteriorating security conditions, rising unemployment, and inadequate healthcare facilities. We expect the new Chief Minister to take urgent steps to address these issues.”
Commenting on the education sector, a student said, “Public universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are facing severe financial and administrative problems. We hope Sohail Afridi will initiate real reforms in higher education and ensure better funding and transparency.”
A Political Science student noted, “This is a critical moment for our province. A leader from the tribal areas finally has the chance to serve the whole province. We believe he will work for unity and inclusive development.”
Another student added, “The youth of KP is looking for jobs, quality education, and peace. We hope CM Afridi brings policy changes that create employment opportunities and improve governance.”
Students across departments emphasized the need for the new provincial government to focus on the concerns of the youth, especially in providing scholarships, developing infrastructure, and strengthening institutions.
