SNGPL crackdown on gas theft,disconnects four meters over violation

MULTAN, Jan 28 (APP):Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) on Wednesday further intensified its crackdown against gas theft, illegal usage and technical violations,disconnecting four more meters during an enforcement drive.
According to SNGPL officials,the UFG control task force carried out inspections in various parts of the city to ensure safe and uninterrupted gas supply.During the latest operation,60 locations were checked.
Officials said two illegally removed meters were recovered,while two others were disconnected for the illegal use of compressors to obtain gas,in violation of company rules.
SNGPL said the objective of the drive was to curb gas theft,improve gas pressure,ensure uninterrupted supply and address public complaints.
The company warned that illegal practices not only affect system performance but also pose serious safety risks.
Speaking on the occasion,the General Manager(GM) SNGPL Multan said ensuring the safety of consumers’ lives and property was the organization’s top priority.
He urged consumers to remain vigilant,check for gas leakages before use and in case of gas smell,open doors and windows immediately and avoid switching on electrical or gas appliances.
He added that action against gas theft and illegal activities would continue to ensure safe,reliable and continuous gas supply to consumers.
