KARACHI, Dec 16 (APP):Sindh Madressatul Islam University is organizing the two-day 3rd Global Research Congress (3rd GRC-2025) along with five international conferences and one national conference from Wednesday (Dec 17) at the university.
Chairman Higher Education Commission Sindh Dr. Tariq Rafi will inaugurate the event at 10:00 am at the Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Auditorium. Sindh Madressatul Islam University’s Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, Prof. Edwina Pio, Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand, and Associate Professorial Fellow, University of Oxford, UK; Professor Mustafa Ozbilgin, Brunel University of London, Dr. Maria Isabel Moldando Garcia, University of Punjab, Lahore, Dr. Jamshed Adil Halepoto, Convener of the GRC, Dr. Mansoor Ahmed Khuhro, Secretary of the GRC and other scholars will address the opening ceremony.
A brief documentary prepared by SMIU on the GRC will also be screened. Wafa Mansoor Buriro, Assistant Professor at SMIU, will conduct the ceremony. Later on inauguration sessions of international conferences and a national conference will be held at different places.
On the first day of the 3rd GRC about 40 technical sessions and panel discussions will be held. The Department of Education, SMIU, is organizing a panel discussion session on “The Role of Educators in Shaping Sustainable Societies: Challenges and Opportunities” at 2:00 pm at the Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Auditorium.
Among the panelists are Commodore (R) Jameel Akhtar (Sitara-i-Imtiaz Military), Assistant to Chief of Naval Staff for Education (ACNS); Prof. Dr. Shahida Sajjad, Vice-Chancellor, Metropolitan University, Karachi; Syed Imdad Ali Shah, Special Secretary Education; Rana Hussain, Caretaker Minister for Education; and Prof. Dr. Amjid Arain, Acting Vice-Chancellor, GC University, Hyderabad. Syed Majid Ali Nazir, Department of Education, SMIU, will moderate the session.
The Faculty of Language and Culture Studies is organizing a panel discussion on “Ethics of AI in Language Education and Research” at 2 pm at the Senate Hall. Dr. Maria Isabel Moldando Garcia of the University of Punjab, Lahore; Dr. Hina Hussain Kazmi, technical expert of the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus-Sindh, UN Women; Sidrah Niaz, central executive officer of Evolution-Igniting Potential; and Zahra Khan, assistant professor of English at Bahria University Karachi Campus, are among the panelists.
The Faculty of Social Sciences is organizing a panel discussion session on “AI, Media, and the Climate Narratives: The Role of Media and AI in Advancing Climate Action and the SDGs” at 3:30 pm at the Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Auditorium.
Among the panelists are Fatima Majeed, climate activist and chairperson of the Sindh Fisheries Department; Shabina Faraz, environment journalist; Amar Guriro, environmental journalist; Zeenia Shaukat, development expert; and Nasir Ali Panhwar, social development and climate change expert. Dr. Nosheen Hussain, Lecturer at SMIU, shall moderate the session.
