SUKKUR, Jun 18 (APP): The Sindh government has imposed a complete ban on the manufacturing, use, and sale of plastic bags across the province, following a cabinet decision. To enforce this ban, the Environment, Climate Change & Coastal Development Department Secretary Agha Shah Nawaz Khan and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Sindh Director General Waqar Hussain Phulpoto have directed EPA Sukkur to conduct inspections at various locations.
A monitoring team led by EPA Sukkur Regional Head Ajmal Khan on Wednesday visited wholesale and super stores on Darakh Road Sukkur, raising awareness among shopkeepers about the ban and emphasizing strict compliance with the cabinet decision. The EPA has warned that violators will face legal action.
The team collected details from shopkeepers using a specific proforma, which will be used for future legal proceedings.
